Self-Portrait, 2006
Oil on Canvas
Robert Igoe earned both a BFA and MFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Painting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). He has instructed drawing and painting courses at UNCG and Guilford College. Igoe’s self portraits are realistic interpretations of himself, and his aesthetic works center around tradition and the viewer’s perception. His works also include interior scenes that are highly textured and impressionistic. Self-Portrait shows a contemplative Igoe contrasted against his shadow, suggesting further self reflection while forming a solid composition. Igoe’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries throughout North Carolina, in addition to Ohio University Eastern Art Gallery. He received the Vermont Studio Center Residency, Johnston VT, award from the Department of Art at UNCG.
