Bob Keeny

Bob Keeny was born in El Dorado Springs, Missouri in 1924. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1943-1946, touring in Europe, the Southwest Pacific and China-Burma-India. He earned his BFA in Painting from Guilford College in 1989, while taking additional art courses in drawing, painting, sculpture and color theory from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). While at UNCG, he studied under Professors Andrew Martin, Mark Gottsegen and Patricia Wasserboehr.

Keeny’s concentration on simple and conventional subject matter is interpreted through his painterly technique. Through his painting experience, his satisfaction and success focuses on translating the subject into expressive, hierarchical relationships of light, color and form.

Before and during his years of making art, Keeny taught economics in various colleges and universities in the United States.
