Watercolor

William Mangum, a native of North Carolina, holds renown as one of the most respected watercolor artists in the region. He received both his BFA and MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Mangum opened Carey-Mangum Gallery in 1982, renamed later as William Mangum Fine Art. Mangum’s landscapes and architectural paintings feature urban and rural settings, from coastlines to mountains around the world. His broad color palette and attention to detail illustrate his observations and travel experiences. In Italian Conversation, Mangum brings human interaction together with the natural landscape, creating a dialogue between the built environment and nature. Notable museums and art organizations, such as the National Arts Club, exhibit Mangum’s paintings. He also shows his work worldwide. Commercially, Mangum has self-published over 300 paintings as limited edition prints. More than 50,000 pieces of his artwork reside in private and corporate collections.
