Kim Kesterson-Trone started creating art at an early age, and was accepted into adult art classes at the age of ten. She continued her education at the Governor’s School of North Carolina, and earned her BFA and MFA from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG). While at UNCG, she studied under Professor Mark Gottsegen, and was awarded the prestigious Spencer Love Scholarship. Afternoon Light shows Kesterson-Trone’s trademark vivid, high-key color palette energizing her soft, peaceful landscape. Her artwork reflects her strong and varied academic background in art. She creates both landscapes and non-representational work, finding the process relaxing and meditative. Kesterson-Trone’s artwork has been shown statewide at locations including the Green Hill Center for NC Art in Greensboro, E.R.L. in Winston-Salem and Somerhill Gallery in Chapel Hill.
