Jim Gallucci, a Greensboro-based sculptor, has artwork located all over the world. After receiving his BA from LeMoyne College, he continued his education at Syracuse University, earning a BFA and MFA in sculpture. Gallucci has worked as an art instructor at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the University of Alabama at Huntsville. He was also Exhibit Designer for the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro, NC. Gallucci’s Downtown Gate is located on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, in downtown Greensboro, NC. This model is a representation of the Gate purchased by the Weaver Foundation and on loan to Southside Community Park, in Greensboro, NC. Downtown Gate embodies Gallucci’s philosophy that his “gates give viewers a literal entry into his work”, and are “a portal into an aesthetic journey.” Gallucci’s numerous exhibitions and commissions attest to his successful career as an artist for over thirty years. He has received various honors and awards including the Governor’s Award of Excellence, and the Betty Cone Award through the United Arts Council.
